I miss blogging. It feels like forever since I've had a substantial post. Now that I've returned back to work the time seems to vanish before I even realize it.
I started back on December 2nd, and that was probably one of the hardest days of my life. Stu was away on another residency interview (a topic in which I hope to discuss sometime soon) that morning, so it was just me and Maddie curled up in bed and that was the hardest thing to get up with her sweet sleeping self next to me knowing that I had to leave her with a relative stranger for 9-plus hours.
Plus, my darling little one was still refusing to take a bottle. It makes me happy to know that she prefers nursing that much, but it was still rather stressful to be called in the middle of the day to go over to the daycare to nurse her. Especially when I had to walk home, then drive over there. As I mentioned, Hubby Dear was having a residency interview (in Birmingham, I think), so he wasn't quite able to come and pick me up.
The day went well enough, and it was wonderful to see everyone I've missed for the past 8 weeks. But I still can't wait for the day 5 and a half months from now when I can stay home and just be Maddie's mom full time.
Things are getting better on the bottle front now, since Maddie found a nipple she likes and she was able to drink four ounces yesterday. Yay! That was pretty comforting to me.
Anyway, I'm hoping to soon create a routine in which I'll be able to blog more frequently. We'll see. :-)

I can't believe Maddie is already 4 weeks old! Since the weather was beautiful, we took her out in the stroller for the first time, and she seemed to really enjoy it. We've been using the sling to carry her around for the most part, since it's easier and she loves that too, but the stroller will be great for small excursions to McDonald's and what not. Plus it has handy-dandy cup holders.
Also, the kitties had a mild protestation at the removal of their stroller. Lily climbed into it as we were getting ready to leave, and then nipped at Stu when he tried to shoo her out of it. After we left, Stu ran back to grab the camera, and found Lucy sitting in the vacant spot. Ah, kitties.
Stu has edited the shots from today and set it to music. I think it's really cute! :-)

Our internet is back! Yay! Here is a video Stu made of Maddie a few days ago, which I'm just now getting around to posting. I can't believe she's already over 2 weeks old!

Beth called me a few days ago and wanted me to give y'all an update. She has been without internet all week, and it looks like it will be another week or two before it's fixed. Of all the times to be without internet...!!
She said Maddie is such a good baby and has been actually pretty good in her one week of existence on this side of Mommy's tummy. :-) Beth's mom is staying with them for a few weeks, which I think has been helpful. (And I'm sure Grandma loves being with her new baby granddaughter!) Beth said transition to motherhood has been pretty good - that nursing hasn't been a problem and only slightly frustrating at times. Though, she may have to stop drinking milk because it seems to be making Maddie fussy. Poor girl! (Poor both of them! I love milk and hope I don't have to give it up!) Beth says she still feels like she's heading back to work any day now, even though she has 7 more weeks to play stay-at-home mom. :-)
Anyways, I will keep y'all updated on Beth and Maddie, and in the meantime keep checking her husband's Flickr for pictures! In the meantime, I leave you with this picture from his photostream:

Beth's husband made a video of Madeline and put it to music. She is so cute and I think she already looks like her mommy! :-)

My phone rang this evening, and when I looked down I saw Beth's number. I answered it and she said, "Well, I had the baby!"
I of course squealed and Beth made me write down all the details so I could pass them on. :-) Madeline Grace made her appearance in this world at 5:46pm. She weighed 6lbs and 11 oz, and was 18-something inches long.
Beth is doing really well. I am very proud of her accomplishment of giving birth completely naturally. :-) She went into labor this morning while she was at work, and by the time she got to the hospital she was already pushing! Madeline came very quickly, and according to Beth she is perfect.
I promise I will put pictures on here as soon as I get some! In the meantime you can check the new proud father's blog for any updates. (And I'll be sure to post for Beth here!)
