The parallel there is very striking!Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01270306505994055790noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31282173.post-1159472265532283162006-09-28T14:37:00.000-05:002006-09-28T14:37:00.000-05:00Well I don't think I was attempting to draw an ana...Well I don't think I was attempting to draw an analogy with my coworker and employer being like the Prodigal Son and his father. Rather, my focus was more on the older son's jealousy towards the benefits another received. In the same way, I was also jealous. I don't think it is an employer's place to love their employees "unconditionally", like a father/son bond. Some choose to be more merciful than others, but all that is business sense and using the best methods to get maximum productivity from your workers.

As a Christian, it is my responsibility to not let jealousy or pride keep me from relating well with others or doing my work to the best of my ability - whether the situation is unfair or not. I always have a choice to leave; I am not required to love my company unconditionally, if that makes sense. The gulp of humility is not letting pride keep you from glorifying God, and rarely are we glorifying God when we are envious of others' material "rewards"!

By the way, my employers are Christians but the company is not (if that makes sense). Most of my coworkers are not Christians.ashleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10982050095869237882noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31282173.post-1159463641182249362006-09-28T12:14:00.000-05:002006-09-28T12:14:00.000-05:00Hmm, I had never thought about it that way. I don't know if I'd draw the analogy between the employer and father in that way even upon consideration, though.

Is your employer a Christians or do you just think God is using him/her?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31282173.post-1159462364513848532006-09-28T11:52:00.000-05:002006-09-28T11:52:00.000-05:00That's an awesome story. And yet here I am, a wayword daughter who should be busy rejoicing in my Father's eternal rewards.Beth @ The Natural Mommyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06702094412517613685noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31282173.post-1159448250011280302006-09-28T07:57:00.000-05:002006-09-28T07:57:00.000-05:00In my employer's defense, they have rewarded me an...In my employer's defense, they have rewarded me and others who do well in different ways.
